Apart from that, they both have the same level of luxury.

The E46 car is an upgraded version of the E36 so it is expected to be pricier than it. If you have the cash to purchase it, then go for it. However, the E36 is also a good ride if you are on a tight budget. It does not need costly maintenance, unlike the E46.
